The Red Hot Organization is a pro-social production company that created music based projects to raise funds and awareness for HIV/AIDS prevention and education related NGO’s. Sambismo is a new and unique music production team created in New York City by Zé Luis Oliveira, Simone Giuliani and Béco Dranoff. Sambismo is a collective project including original recordings and featuring special guests such as Bebel Gilberto, Sabina Sciubba (Brazilian Girls), Lilian Vieira (Zuco 103), Celso Fonseca, Nina Miranda & Chris Franck (Zeep, Smoke City), Apollo Nove, Rose Max and Kay Lyra. The first album is titled ‘The Birth Of… Sambismo’ and is scheduled for a Summer 2011 release.

MAURICIO PESSOA | HABITAT

Mauricio Pessoa is a 32 year old singer-songwriter from Rio de Janeiro whose music is directly influenced by Brazilian greats such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chico Buarque, João Gilberto and Paulinho Da Viola. In 2007, Mauricio released his self-titled debut album (Universal), acclaimed by critics as a “successful start for a Carioca artist with brilliant self-composed music” (Mauro Ferreira, ‘O Dia’). As a member of Brazil’s new music scene, Mauricio has performed in some of Rio’s most prestigious venues as well as important tribute concerts.

Pessoa’s second album ‘Habitat’, was produced and recorded in 2010 in New York by Zé Luis Oliveira and Béco Dranoff. The album’s concept and repertoire was selected from songs of his authorial repertoire and the core group is formed by Mauricio Pessoa (vocals and classic guitar), Zé Luis Oliveira (woodwinds and arrangements), Simone Giuliani (piano), Jim Robertson (acoustic bass) and Kenny Grohowsky (drums), plus a string quartet in three songs. The music on’Habitat’ reflects the Brazilian landscape, drawing inspiration from Pessoa’s experiences travelling back and forth between Brazil and the US, being heavily influenced by Bossa Nova, Samba and Jazz Standards. Pessoa currently lives in New York City.
